"You greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6-7

Trip to Ethiopia

We had an amazing trip to Ethiopia! Overall, I would say that it was overwhelming. Overwhelmed by the amount of love we feel for Sihin and so saddened by the state of poverty that the country is facing. We were blessed though, to give what we could, to help.

The most eye opening experience was our trip to Korah, which is a local dump where families live. Missionaries built a small school which teaches children about Jesus. The children there were so excited to talk with Americans and they loved to have their picture taken, to practice their English and to hear about Jesus. I never knew how much this experience would change our lives and I cannot wait to go back!

Everyone, no matter what age, should go to do missions in a place like this... Jesus does mighty work through those who have a heart to help His people...it is life-changing!

  1. Dearest Amy and Ryan-
Thank you for walking the walk of your faith in Jesus, not just talking the talk. In church we teach children to sing the song...

"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Be they yellow, black, or white they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world." I love that song and I believe in what it says.

I believe the Lord asks us to be more like Him and love and give back to help all His hurting children here at home and around the world. They are all His! It can seem overwhelming, like you said, but we can make a start... one child at a time. One mission trip at a time.

I loved seeing your pictures of Sihin and so I'm happy you got to meet her. Her Christian heart really shines through too.

When I think of the food famine in Somalia, and the children in Ethiopia in a garbage dump going to school, I am so grateful for all we have. It is so easy to take it all for granted.

Thank you for your unselfishness, your faith against great obstacles, and for being such a great role model to me personally. You have both inspired me to do more mission work here and abroad.

    We love you both!
    God Bless!
